History
Reaching Excellence in Achievers & Leaders, Inc. (R.E.A.L.) was founded in August 2016 by Melissa Judd, Founder and Executive Director, to address literacy gaps, academic challenges, and family development needs impacting children and youth in underserved communities. Established with a commitment to equity and opportunity, R.E.A.L. was created to ensure young people—and their families—have access to the educational support, mentorship, and community resources necessary to thrive.
How we started?
R.E.A.L. initially launched Afterschool and Summer Learning programs designed to meet scholars where they are academically and socially. These programs focus on literacy development, academic enrichment, social-emotional growth, and providing a safe, nurturing environment that supports both learning and personal development.
As the organization grew, R.E.A.L. expanded its scope to include family development initiatives, recognizing that strong families are essential to long-term youth success. These initiatives include parent workshops, family engagement events, wellness support, and resource referrals.
Our Vision
We strive to help close the achievement gap and give today’s youth the tools they need in school and beyond. Our tutoring program provides a safe and supportive environment where children can learn, grow academically and socially while having fun. We offer a variety of activities, including academic support, enrichment activities, and opportunities to give back to the community.
We believe that all individuals strive toward and can achieve excellence in life if they are given the opportunity and the right tools or a modicum of help. Serving a variety of areas in Brooklyn, New York.

(R.E.A.L.) exists to make a lasting positive impact on youth, young adults, and communities by providing equitable pathways to success through education, mentorship, leadership development, and community engagement. R.E.A.L. equips emerging leaders with the skills, values, and future-ready competencies needed to overcome barriers, contribute meaningfully to their communities, and thrive as responsible global citizens in an evolving world.
